suddenly usb 2.0 drives stopped working on right side port while same device is working properly on left port.

    Hey harshalrc,

Thanks for being a part of Apple Support Communities.

I understand some of your USB ports aren't recognizing USB 2.0 devices, while it does recognize USB 3.0 devices.  Have you confirmed that the USB 2.0 devices can be recognized by other computers? If they don't, then the issue is likely with the device itself, and not your Mac.  If they are recognized, then go ahead and reset the SMC on your Mac:

    1. Shut down the Mac.
    2. Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your Mac.
    3. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
    4. Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

    Take care.
