Indeed.
I don't quite understand either, what it is the OP wants to do exactly.

The user tip should help them set things up without losing any data. Changing the name of the computer to match the old is quite easy to do in Windows, but won't help one jot. A new modem (or router?) simply needs configuring. Both computer and iPhone should be set up so they can use it as a gateway to the Internet, but again not really an Apple/iPhone question.

I can understand that. And yes, it can happen when changing computers, but the thing is the question really does not imply any issue with the music or anything like that to me.
I mean I could in all honestly guess its possible there's an issue with lost music, but it could also be something else.
The question itself does not really give me enough to jump out and say it and issue with lost music right off the bat like that.
Not saying you are wrong, just that I would not have gravitated towards that scenario without a bit more context.

Sep 22, 2016 3:37 PM in response to Phil0124by turingtest2,Oh I quite agree, it might not actually be the question they've asked, hopefully they will make things clear, in the meantime I spot an opportunity for data loss if the necessary care isn't taken which is why I posted my advice.
