Q: How to quit Microsoft Database Daemon SyncServicesAgent?

I am attempting to update Microsoft Office, but when I download the update, I receive the message that I need to quit these applications:

-Microsoft Database Daemon

-SyncServicesAgent

I do not know how to quit these applications and they do not appear in the "Force Quit" menu.  Suggestions?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks (10.9.3)

Open the Activity Monitor located in Applications > Utilities

Select the Microsoft Database Daemon process then click the force quit button top left corner of that window.

    Ditto for SyncServicesAgent

I tried this several times and all processes come back.  Any other suggestions?  I haven't been able to update for a really long time and this is frustrating me no end.

Same situation for me now that I've updated to Yosemite.  I try to update MS Office, get the requirement to close those two programs.  Previously I could do so from Activity Monitor.  Now with Yosemite it appears I close the two programs but within 1-2 secs they're back up and running so I'm unable to update Office.  Any suggestions?

I share your frustration. Tried for 50 minutes straight to delete and they kept coming back. Today I tried again, following the instructions given to close in Activity Monitor. Clicked on 'Quit process' and confirmed only to see them pop up again, and this time 'quit process' was greyed out so I couldn't click it. Finally i tried the keyboard instructions given (alt -cmd - Q) and yeayy! **** things stopped long enough for me to install an update. Might just be coincidence but it worked for me
