Q: Macintosh HD Not Appearing After Installing Windows 8.1

Today I installed windows 8.1 onto my 11 inch mid 2013 MacBook Air using Bootcamp. It installed perfectly and I was easily able to switch between Macintosh HD and Windows by pressing Option + Power button. I downloaded the sims 3 and a few expansion packs onto the windows partition and soon realised that I hadn't split enough space for windows. I fixed this by downloading Minitool Partition Wizard. When I was splitting ore space into windows, I accidentally deleted one of the other partitions (I think that's what it was). It had around 600mb on it. Since deleting that, the Macintosh HD partition doesn't appear when I turn on my mac and press option + power button, only the windows partition is available. I went into Internet Recovery by pressing command + r. I then went into disk utility. The Macintosh HD partition was greyed out. I unlocked it, verified and repaired it and then restarted my Mac. Nothing changed. I repeated the command + r and then tried reinstalling Mavericks, but it said "This disk cannot be used to start your computer". There's nothing else I can do, can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Minitool Partition tool should not be used on any Mac. It is one of the worst tools you can find. You have also deleted a 600MB partition, which is your OS X Recovery HD. Using this tool converted to a non-GPT disk.

Unfortunately my phone won't let me insert a photo and I obviously can't use my Mac so I'll just write down what comes up:

In case you need to do this in the future, Copy the output of the Terminal using Command+C, quit Terminal, start Safari, and  then use Command+V to Paste the output in the discussion as reply.

Please run How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support and then check the available options when you boot and hold Alt/Option key.

I followed all the instructions, yet windows is still the only partition I can load. I tried it again, yet it remained the same. I'm really starting to worry because I have too much data on my macintosh hd for it to be gone.

You do not show an entry for Recovery HD, as shown

Unfortunately my phone won't let me insert a photo and I obviously can't use my Mac so I'll just write down what comes up:

    /dev/disk0

    #:               TYPE NAME.                      SIZE.             IDENTIFIER

    #0:     GUID_partition_scheme.           *251.0 GB.     disk0

    #1:                        EFI EFI                     209.7 MB      disk0s1

    #2:          Apple_CoreStorage               186.8 GB      disk0s2

#3:   Microsoft Basic Data BOOTCAMP 63.9 GB      disk0s3

You have a CoreStorage volume, yet a missing Recovery HD. Using the Copy/Paste method discussed, can you post the output of diskutil cs list command from Terminal in Internet Recovery.

Sorry, I reached my wits end and just ended up wiping my hard drive. It worked, my Mac is usable again. Thanks for your help though

Please take good back ups of OS X, Windows and create a Windows System Restore point, once you have rebuilt your Mac fully.
