Sep 21, 2016 11:28 AM in response to gskuttby jameson.h,Hi there, gskutt!
Thank you for reaching out via the Apple Support Communities! Based on your post, I understand that you have an iPhone 6 your son uses that is stuck on Searching or No Service, even though the SIM works in another phone. I rely on my own iPhone every day, so I know it's important to make sure he can get connected to your carrier. I'm happy to help!
It sounds like you've already gone through some good troubleshooting steps by restarting the iPhone, resetting the network settings, and testing the SIM in another device. There are a couple more things I can recommend based on the following article: If you can‘t connect to a cellular network or cellular data
First, check to see if his iPhone has any carrier updates available, as described here: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad
Then, make sure his iPhone 6 is running the latest version of the iOS software. You can get instructions on updating iOS here: Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If there are no carrier updates and the iOS software is up to date, back up the iPhone, then try restoring the iPhone to factory settings.
To get information on how to back up using iCloud or iTunes, you can use this article: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Then, following the steps outlined here, restore the iPhone to factory settings: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to factory settings
When the restore is complete, set the iPhone up as a new device (meaning without using the backup, at least temporarily), and verify that there is service. If so, go ahead and restore the backup using this article: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
