Q: My ipod screen is black and I cannot turn it on, please help

Hi my iPod Touch 5th Generation 16Gb, went off some 2 to 3 months ago. I switched it on but it could not come on. I charged it but there was no indication that it was charging. I connected it to my computer but itunes is not reading it, the screen is just black all the way. Please help me to get my iPod on and onto recovery/resetting.

Thank you so much

iPod touch, iOS 9.2.1

Have you try the force restart (holding Home and On/Off buttons together for 20 sec)?

Such a bummer.  Have you tried charging it first for about an hour?  My did the same thing and I had to leaving charging for some time before the force re-start would work.  Good luck.

Hello kterra and welcome to Apple Support Communities. It seems that your problem is very unique in a way that it could possibly something internal within the iPod Touch. I would recommend to make an appointment with a genius bar at your closest Apple Store. The other option is to use a 3rd party company or yourself to replace the battery of the iPod Touch. I hope this helps!

Before anything, I would just try to charge it for while, like what Subiesu recommended.

I charged it for maybe 6 hours. Then did not do anything about for a week and then tried the force restart process.

Thank you. I think I should do that (charge) again first and then try the force restart after that.

Thank you. I will do that after trying to charge it for a while and do the force restart right after charging does not work.

    If this ever happens again:

This has happened to me many times. It seriously bumming but this worked for me so i hope works for you.

-Plug in ipod for atleast a week without touching

          > Try to resist pressing the buttons or unplugging

    - after atleast a week try to turn it on again

If this doesnt work it might be your battery, you can replace it for like $60 i think.

    Good luck!!!
