Q: ATV4 with Soundbar pausing when TV turned off / on?

I have an ATV4 connected to a Samsung sound bar directly by HDMI.  The soundbar is then connected to an LG TV via its HDMI out.  I often use the ATV to play music with the TV off and it's always worked fine.  Additionally I've often had the TV on, playing either Netflix or whatever then switched to music and then turned off the TV using the TV remote.  Following a pause of a second or two the soundbar has then continued playing the music from the ATV4.

However since TVoS 10 update it seems to have gotten a bit screwed up.  Now, if I'm listening to music and the TV is on, as soon as I turn off the TV with the TV remote the ATV pauses music play and I have to pick up the ATV remote and press either the pause / play button or the top clickpad?  Same if I have the TV off and then turn the TV on again, it pauses whatever music is playing on the ATV.  I have to then click the ATV remote again to start playing?

Nothing else has changed with my set up at all, except installing OS10. I noticed I also had to reconfigure my ATV remote volume control settings as ATV kept saying 'You have not configured volume control'.  I also checked that 'Control TV' is turned off.  As the ATV is connected direct to the sound bar I can't for the life of me figure why turning off the TV with the TV remote should pause music playback on the ATV??

Users have experienced differing results when trying to use the Apple TV for audio only. Some have found it works well, others have found that they need to have the TV on to get audio and others have found they need the TV on to start off with, but can turn it off when the audio starts playing.

I suspect these variations result from the type of connection that the TV offers and therefore may vary according to the make/model of TV.

If the latest OS results in the need to reconnect over HDMI when the TV is turned off for you, then your only solution is to re-establish the connection in the way that you have been doing. The alternative would be to use Apple's audio only solution which is the Airport express.

I, too, have this same setup {ATV4 (HDMI) > RCA Receiver; RCA (HDMI) > 1080p TV} and also find that I have to use the Play button on the ATV4 to get the audio stream to continue playing after turning off the TV whereas previously the audio dropped out briefly after powering off the TV and then resuming to play from the Receiver unit.  Not that this is a big issue for me (although I now find that the ATV4 remote will not control the volume on the Receiver when the TV is powered off but does control it when the TV is on) - but what setting would have been altered in the update that would cause this new behavior? (since I'm noticing that the remote isn't controlling the volume on the Receiver when TV is powered off, could it have something to do with HDMI-CEC?  I have the 'Control TV' option set to off and have 'Volume Control' option set to 'Auto - RCA Receiver').
