Q: Disappearing iCloud Mail messages

On all devices, and at icloud.com.

I've noticed it in Sent messages when I look for the message five minutes after sending it, and it's gone. Only happens occasionally; has occured twice in the last two days. These missing sent messages are received. It may be happening in inbox also but if an unimportant email is missing I'd never notice it. Since it's happening at the source, icloud.com, it would seem to be an Apple server problem, right?

I'm using Mavericks and ios7.

This iCloud mail problem is STILL an issue 18 months after this thread started. I intermittently see emails arrive and disappear on my iPhone, never to be found again.  If i get any help from my call to Apple Support later today, i'll post it. I'm hoping rebuilding my mailbox may solve the issue.

CSound illustrates all that is wrong with Tech Support forums. People don't ask for tech help to be told they shouldn't be asking for tech help. I see it all the time. You have to strategically compose your message so no one finds an irrelevant "mistake" to criticize. If something is broken, it should be fixed. I'm guessing "just live with whatever this product does, good or bad" is not in the EULA. I've said my peace. Unless you suggest a real step towards a solution, i won't be replying to your flippant comments.

Yup.  Still a problem.  I reported this issue to Apple Support i January 2016.  Problem is still occurring.  Almost daily now, iCloud mail vanishes as I'm reading it on my iPhone.  Apple has been unable to find the problem so far.

Hi Eric153, Csound1 is a known troll on these forums.  Has been for a long time.  Never adds value to any discussion.  Instead, he simply attempts to engage others through insulting.  I've found it's best simply to ignore him.

For the record, as we speak, Apple is spending considerable effort right now to locate the source of the disappearing mail issue for me.  It took a while to get their attention and I'm not sure they will be able to locate the problem, but I'm truly impressed with the engineering support they have assigned to my specific case.  Hopefully they will find something and a fix will show up as a bug fix in a future release.

Ah, I'm not sure what a "troll" is, other than those ugly things that hang out under bridges and annoy people for no reason. I appreciate the helpful advice and will ignore.

I was reading this thread because ALL of my emails in my "inbox" across all of my iCloud platforms have disappeared and I was actually hoping to find both an explanation and a solution.

    Hi Eric153,

You should contact Apple Support if ALL your message have disappeared.  If necessary, they can restore them.  A while ago they did that for me when they misunderstood my "vanishing" message issue as one of "deletion".

    Good luck.

They are gone from iCloud.com, my phone, and my the mail program on my computer.

I've had the account for over ten years (.mac) and never had a problem.

The problem still exists as of 5 minutes ago

The email I just sent has vanished and it's not in the Sent folder in either the Mail app or on the iCould website.

My iCloud (me.com) inbound emails are noticeably missing today. I got 2 out of several emails from a password reset website. I tried sending myself 4, and got 2 an hour later. Is it a known thing that iCloud email is not a reliable way to communicate? Is there an SLA that describes this?
