Q: Is it true that charging your iphone to 100% can decrease its battery life?

Because some says it can decrease the battery life if you always or often charge your iphone to 100%. They said that it is better to not charge it to 100%, and some said that it is ok to charge your phone to 100%.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2

your phone/ipad/laptop/ipod is designed to be charged until it reaches capacity. thats what it is designed to do by the engineers. So no. Tell the 'they' that said "it's better not to" that 4:20 only happens twice a day and they should keep it down to twice a day to reserve whatever brain cells are left in hiding.

No it is not true, nor is it so for any Lithium ion or Lithium polymer battery.  Many people simply plug their iPhones and iPads in at night and don't unplug them until the next day when they need to take them with them again.  It does absolutely no harm to just leave them plugged in until needed on the move again.  There is no need to monitor the charge state at all when plugged in.

I should have added, for one thing, once your battery has reached its capacity, all charging stops automatically.  So once the battery indicator says it is at 100%, its not charging any longer (the phone itself controls the charging process).
