I am not able to transfer files between Macbook pro and iPhone > wi-fi and bluetooth turned on on both devices.

What model MacBook Pro do you have? Older models do not support AirDrop.
Did you turn on AirDrop? You must set AirDrop to allow from Contacts Only or Everyone.
