Q: Unable to remove the 'macworld.co.uk' cookie (databases)
Hi,
I have been trying to remove the following cookie from Safari 10.
It's 'macworld.co.uk'. It's not a 'cache' like the others, it's 'databases'
At first I was using El Capitan and now I am using macOS Sierra 10.12.
These are the instructions, below, that I used to try to remove the cookie. They work for everything except the 'macworld' cookie. The cookie returns, no matter what.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.
Instructions used:
1. Empty Cache
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
2. Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Click the “Details” button. Remove the cookie.
Turn all extensions off and test.
Delete Caches.db.
Try step 1 first. If this doesn't help, try step 2.
1. Delete Caches.db
Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown.
Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari > Caches.db
Right click the Caches.db file and select "Move To Trash.
Close windows and relaunch Safari.
2. Delete com.apple.Safari.plist file and test.
Empty the Trash.
Quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select "Library" from the drop down.
Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click on it and select "Move it to Trash".
Restart. Relaunch Safari and test.
If this doesn’t help, “Put Back” the com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click on the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.
Right click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back

Hi Eric,
Thank you for the suggestion. Macworld.uk is not one of my Top Sites.
I have, however, found out where that cookie was 'hiding'.
In Finder>>Go>>Library>>Safari>>Databases>>IndexedDB.
I found it by clicking away at all those Library folders. When I opened 'IndexedDB', there it was, so I trashed it.
Problem cookie gone.
