Q: wifi dropping out after IOS10 update

I have noticed that my wifi access drops out for no reason.  When I try to access anything that uses the web I get messages no network access or safari cannot open page.  This has occurred on both my IPAD Pro and IPAD Air.

Other devices can access the net when the fault occurs on one.  Has anyone else encountered this?

I'm having the same problem. It happens on my home wifi, work wifi, and on any other wifi I've tried so I don't think it's related to the router. When I go to the wifi settings page on the phone I see the phone constantly connecting and then disconnecting from wifi, every few seconds. In addition to the connection problems this is a battery killer.

I've tried basically every tip that exists on the internet. Here's a list:

    * Reset network settings and reboot the phone

    * Reset all settings and reboot the phone

    * Turn off Wi-Fi Networking in Location Services and reboot the phone

    * Reboot my router

    * Make sure my router is using WPA2-AES encryption

    * Turning on airplane mode and connecting to wifi

    * Update the firmware on my router

    * Factory reset on my phone

    * Downgraded to iOS 9.3.5 - wifi works again. Re-upgraded to iOS 10 - wifi is broken again

My router is an ASUS RT-N66W. Dynamic IP. My DCHP lease expires in about 3 hours, no idea what the full lease duration is. My 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks have separate SSIDs and I am connecting to the 2.4 GHz network. When I'm connected to my router I see the IP, DNS, etc settings filled in. Comparing to my iPad which has not updated to iOS 10 yet, the values are the same except for the end of the IP, which is expected with DCHP.

As I said though this is happening on all wifi networks I've tried, so it doesn't look like an issue with my network. It looks like an issue with iOS 10.

For now I have no choice really but to downgrade to iOS 9 again, since I've already wiped my phone and nearly wiped out my cellular data cap since I haven't been able to connect to wifi since upgrading to iOS 10. Guess I'll try iOS 10 again after the next major patch.

Yeah I have the same problem. iPhone 6 with iOS10 can't hold a WiFi connection. I tried the "reset network settings" option just now, but I'm skeptical that will resolve the problem.

It continues here too. I'm using Airplane Mode most of the time to keep it on otherwise I find it drops out right in the middle of something.  Definitely a bug.

I have the same problem as well on both iPad and iPhone 5.

Rebooting the router, rebooting the phone, resetting the Apple device, etc... as belefuu tried... sorry but they all fall into the voodoo class of troubleshooting. YMMV (significantly), and while folks feel good they are doing something, it doesn't address the real problem which Apple should just acknowledge, i.e. we all only changed our software and we all experience the same issue. I'm not hearing that people changed any settings in their Apple devices, changed their routers, changed their SSID settings, etc... They changed THEIR iOS.

I have ASUS RT68, 5G and 2.4G, with two hidden SSIDs and two visible guest SSIDs, AES only. This has been (and is) rock solid. From my iPad and iPhone I can see my guest networks all the time, but my devices won't hold a reliable connection to the hidden SSIDs. Not saying it's exclusive to hidden SSIDs, but that's my experience. Something clearly changed in iOS.

My PC laptops connect fine. My Roku connects fine. My Apple TV connects fine. My wireless printers connect fine. My friends' Android phones... wait for it... connect fine.

Change = iOS... Fault must be introduced by iOS 10.

For now, I just have to keep reentering my hidden SSID credentials when I want to do anything on my internal networks.

Thanks - I rebooted the router a week ago and have had no disconnects. Also wen on a trip an the wifi worked fine in the hotel. When I returned home my IPad automatically connected. Problem appears solved.

For me it is not just a matter of dropping off, I cannot get connected in the first place, and there is a message on both devices updated to ios10 that there is No Internet Connection, despite showing bars to my wifi before I try to join.

    I have reset network settings.

I have reset the phone to factory settings and it would not join.

I then restored the phone and it would not join.

I have restarted the router ad nauseum throughout all of this.

The ipad is in the same situation, but until I can make a fix work on the phone, I do not see any point in trying the same process with it.
