Q: Help with changing Apple ID email
So last night I decided I needed to change my Apple ID email as I am no longer using my btinternet email. I changed this really easily just by 'updating' the email address but didn't change my password. However as a result this changes the apple id login. When I went to my iPhone to sign out of my I icloud to and sign in with my new Apple id using the same password, I got the warning message about this process deleting photos etc. All my photos are in iCloud anyway so wasn't worried about them being removed from my iphone device. So I signed out and signed in with my new login. I then watched the photos number drop within the photos app! (slightly nervous to actually see it happen) Then realised if I sign out on my Mac and sign in with my new login to log into the icloud via my Mac will it delete all my iPhoto photos on there? Then how does the cloud know that I am still the same person? Will that old login still exist with my photos in because how does it know to put them in my new login?? Panic set in and I logged back into Apple on safari and changed my email address back to the bt email address. Signed out and then signed back in on my iPhone and overnight all my photos have come back on my device presumably from the cloud backup.
Thankfully not even touched my Mac at this stage so that isn't affected by any of this.
So ultimately my question is how does iCloud sync with my new Apple ID so I can keep all my photos? Photos are really important to me so cannot risk losing them! Many thanks for any help you can offer and apologies for the long post!!
