Q: Macbook Air Logic Board Failure

So here's my story: I bought a few months used Macbook Air Mid-2013 11" (A1465) last spring. It was big money for me, but I was hoping that atleast it would be a reliable tool for many years (basing on the Apple reliability reputation). Going almost a year without issues, last week happened this. I was studying late, and when I went to bed, the battery was almost empty (~5%). I just put it to sleep. When I woke up the next morning, the Macbook had ran out of power, and when I tried to charge it, it didn't do anything. I googled it, and tried many things, like SMC reset and warming the charger. I even tried a different charger, but nothing.

So I took the Air to a authorised Apple reseller (Valge Klaar) in Estonia for diagnostics. And yesterday I got a text from them that the logic board is dead, and the replacement would cost 480€ (570$). I mean, how is this even possible that a mother board just randombly dies? Especially on a great reputation company device...

I was stunned by these news. So here I am now, and because I can only dream about paying that sort of money right now (or in the near future), helpless and hoping for some kind of help from you guys. The laptop is over a year old, so the guarantee is over by a month or two. Should I just sell it for replacement parts? I must admit I am quite disappointed in Apple

Went to an unofficial place and he repaired the motherboard for 10k Rs approx 180USD and gave a one month warranty. Guess what - the MBA stopped working as soon as the warranty finished. Don't know what to do know. In the middle it had randomly started working again but now the display doesn't come. The battery works well since it heats and the charging light is also working but the motherboard to display is where the problem is, I guess.

HI, did you get anywhere with this? I now have the same problem and found this thread and called Apple in a rage. They are saying that the logic board can fail for any number of reasons and as far as they are aware there is no known fault and therefore no recall program. I was about to sell mines for parts even though it's only 2 years old but after reading this there is no way I would buy another MacBook Air. I'm going to go to trading standards because these apple people are making millions out of this. i need to get as much support as possible, what was the outcome with yours?

I have the same issue… I invested about 1800 for an i7 8GB 256GB, etc… and 2 years after the "video card" from the logic board started failing. Even the windows HP i got for 1200 lasted me 6 years without a problem, what is the point then of choosing Mac over HP? I am extremely disappointed at Apple. Another thing is that because the video card is somehow "ingrained" in the logic board they cannot just replace the video card and have to remove my i7 altogether, it is very inconvenient to have it set up like this.
