Q: Multicam thumbnails missing in Project Timeline

Just that, really.
I have a multicam clip in my project with three video and three audio tracks.

Since I've been swapping from one video angle to the other, all of the thumbnails have disappeared.

I trashed the prefs both on FCP X launch (using Alt+Cmd) and using Preference manager.

I also deleted the Thumbnail Media from within the Library - but to no avail.

The Clip Appearance setting on the timeline is correct for thumbnails.

Any ideas, anyone?

From the File menu, Delete Generated Project/Library Files.  It is a simple screen redraw issue, should be taken care of in a future update.

Thanks BenB. I tried that with both Project and Library files but it didn't work.

Pity though - on occasions (especially with multicam) the thumbnails can be really handy.

Just as an update to this (for what it's worth). I created a new user on my Mac Pro (cylinder shape) and the problem is still there when I access the projects from that account.

It looks like it is something in the library or the particular project.

Try creating a new library, add a multicam clip into a project there. Same problem? Or does that work?

    Sussed it!

Not sure whether "Other Video" is a default Role in FCPX - I suspect it's not. Anyway, I use Roles and the Timeline Index to shrink connected clips and titles in the timeline to save space - then when I want to edit them, if I want to see the thumbnail, I use the little arrow in the Timeline Index to enlarge these clips and titles.

Well, for some reason, FCPX had assigned the "Other Video" role to my multicam clips - and because I'd set these to "minimise" the thumbnails disappeared.

Slightly obscure, but thanks to Luis Sequeira1 I found it. I copied a project (that didn't have the problem) into my Library, and the project was still OK, so this suggested the Library was OK.

Then I created a new project and pasted all the clips from the problem project into it, and of course, ALL the clips, including titles were huge - but the thumbnails were there. When I clicked the arrow to minimise the "unwanted" clips, all my Multicam thumbnails disappeared!

So thanks, Luis, you didn't actually pinpoint the problem, but you guided me in the right direction!
