Q: Mail sync problem on MacBook Pro
I use iCloud Mail on my MacBook Pro, my iPhone, and iPad. Last evening, two messages appeared in my inbox on my iPhone and iPad, but they did not appear on my MacBook. This morning, a third message vanished from my Mac, but it remains on both iOS devices. My iOS devices seem to be okay, but iCloud Mail is erratic on the MBP.
The two vanished messages happened to be the last two that I received yesterday. The missing messages have nothing in common—no common sender or any other link. In fact, one of them came from Apple Developer (developer@insideapple.apple.com). On closer inspection this morning, I find there are even more messages that never arrived in my Mac's Mail app over recent days.
What I've done: (1) I've restarted my MBP a few times; (2) I rebuilt my mailbox last night. Result: No change. What else can I do?
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), null

First, I confess with deep embarrassment that the problem seems to have begun with my own hand. I don't remember changing the sort order (it could have happened quite inadvertently), but just now I discovered that my inbox was set to sort messages "by unread" instead of by date. That explains the disappearance of those messages. I returned the sort order to Date, and the "missing" messages reappeared.
I did try your suggestion, but of course it had no effect. Even so, I'm grateful for your suggestion.
