Sep 23, 2016 8:52 AM in response to RatedRSEby Jonathan UK,Hi
It may help to unpair and re-pair your watch.
The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch when unpairing via the app. Choose to Restore from Backup when offered the option during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode).

Sep 23, 2016 9:02 AM in response to Jonathan UKby RatedRSE,That was actually the first thing I tried. It did not fix the problem.
I also tried resetting all network data on my iPhone and repairing the watch again.
Same problem.
The watch is paired, it just drops the connection a lot where it didn't before the update.

Sep 25, 2016 6:01 AM in response to RatedRSEby Jonathan UK,★HelpfulIn that case, the following steps may help:
- Unpair your watch using the Watch app:
- Make an encrypted backup of your iPhone:
- If using iTunes, be sure to choose the option to Encrypt iPhone backup.
- How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
- Restore your iPhone to factory settings using iTunes (installing a fresh copy of iOS):
- Restore your iPhone from the encrypted backup;
- Pair your watch, setting it up either as a new watch or restoring from backup:
If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch checked and, if recommended by Apple, serviced (whether under warranty, if eligible, or via chargeable repair service):
- Contact - Official Apple Support
- https://twitter.com/applesupport
To check your warranty status (the serial number is on the back of your watch):

Sep 25, 2016 6:01 AM in response to RatedRSEby antuus,★HelpfulHaving the same problem here... Had 6s Plus on iOS 9. No issues at all staying paired with my 1st gen Apple watch. I sold the 6s Plus right before iOS 10 dropped, so did not test the 6s plus + Apple watch together.
Fast forward 3 weeks- my 7 plus on iOS 10 will not stay connected to my apple watch with any consistency. At random points in the day, I notice my watch disconnected from my phone. It will reconnect randomly, however.
I suspect this is software related and will be resolved eventually. Just need to get some visibility on it.

Sep 24, 2016 8:49 PM in response to antuusby antuus,Here's something that I didn't realize-
My watch is currently on 2.2.2. I didn't realize my watch wasn't on version 3. Updating it now. I will report back if this changes things for me.

Sep 25, 2016 6:03 AM in response to Jonathan UKby RatedRSE,I tried the backup and reset that Jonathan recommended and after doing so I didn't have any issues yesterday with disconnection.
I am cautiously optimistic that this may have fixed the problem.
I course it could also have been that iOS 10.0. 2 was installed yesterday as well. That could have very well fixed the problem as well.

Sep 25, 2016 6:10 AM in response to RatedRSEby Jonathan UK,Great - thank you for following up!
(iOS 10.0.2 addressed issues with Photos (when turning on iCloud Photo Library), headphone audio controls and enabling some app extensions).

Sep 25, 2016 8:37 AM in response to Jonathan UKby RatedRSE,Bad news. It happened again today...
It seems like it starts happening now whenever I connect it to my carplay in my car.
Not sure if it's linked but it seems to be.

Sep 25, 2016 9:33 AM in response to antuusby antuus,Updated the watch to OS3 and the phone to 10.0.2. So far, I haven't noticed a disconnect. I suspect that the issue is still there, but whatever is triggering it, hasn't occurred since the changes I made.

Sep 26, 2016 5:38 PM in response to Jonathan UKby RatedRSE,Well, I went to the Genius Bar today.
They ran diagnostics and a bunch of tests on both my watch and on my phone and both had no problems.
The problem to me seems to be with the phone losing Bluetooth connectivity. Again today I had no issues until I hooked it up to my carplay unit with the lightning cable and then I watched the Bluetooth cycle on and off on the phone. I tried a test to leave my phone disconnected after resetting my watch (which we did at the apple store) and after that I had no issues yet.
I am going to try not connecting it again tomorrow during my commute and sew if I have any issues throughout the day. If not, we can safely assume my issue is caused by a software glitch with carplay and Bluetooth after the iOS 10 update.
I also have a watch series 2 coming on Wednesday. Using a different watch and getting the same result will also help to narrow down the problem to the Bluetooth glitch. I'll report back with my findings.
