Q: My iMessage has been hacked

I went into the messages app on my computer recently and found out that more than 20 messages had been sent. The messages were all to Chinese numbers, and the messages in Chinese. Screen Shot 2016-03-07 at 23.36.11.png

Has anyone experienced the same? is my account hacked?

update: so basically you have to ring apple support and see if they put a block on your iMessages. Also make sure your software is updated and you've backed up. If not, - about 48hrs everything should go back to normal but call them just in case. Ask to speak to a senior advisor who can then send your case to a technician - they'll make you sign in and out of iMessage and FaceTime and iCloud first and stuff.

    Hope this helps,

mone started working again for some numbers after 48hrs - i haven't tried on my mac yet though.

It just happened today and my phone sent out 80 over messages. I not sure whether singtel is able to waive off the cost from my bill.

Had a Mac link to my account and messages go out A while ago.  Same pattern.  I took control of the account but they later tried to reset my password yet again.  Changed everything again.  Something is up apple.

I had version 9.3.5 and this happend to me 9/25/16  I suspect Craigs list phoney posts.  I have been searching for an item to buy and about 50-60% of the CL posts are phony.  I wonder if they get your phone number after you call or text (in my case) and then figure out how to hack your passwords.

Yeah, I had this happen last night, but didn't see the emails until this morning. I opened imessage and found around 60 or more texts that were being sent out from my phone with Chinese characters. I deleted all the messages and changed my id password. A few hours later I get another message saying I've been locked out of my account. I over-road the account and changed the password again, this time making it stronger. I'm really hoping everything is safe on my phone.. iMessage seems to be working fine for me. I was kind of wondering if it could be because I shared my computer screen yesterday with tech services from my school so they could fix certain issues, but surely not, right?

Apple needs to do something to fix this!

Exactly the same thing happened to me yesterday. I changed my appleid password and locked them back out, but wth? How does this happen!?

Literally the only place I have ever entered my appleid info is in the settings of my iphone and yesterday directly on the apple site to lock down my account. Interestingly enough, this happen while I was upgrading my phone to ios 10 (on my iphone SE). Like all was good, and I started the update and when it logged back in after the update my appleid had gotten hacked and I had all these messages. It's like someone is spoofing or doing some sort of man in the middle attack on the apple update servers.

Hi Alex, exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I got an email saying a new device had accessed my iCloud account and when I signed on to check it out, I noticed there were hundreds of outgoing messages exactly like that screenshot. I called Apple and immediately changed my password to my Apple ID. It seems they just hacked into that and everything has been find since I changed my password and turned on the "Two-Step Verification" for an extra level of security.

I have had the same thing happen.  From what I can gather on Google translate, It is an advertisement for the "Macau Gambling Festival Promotion".  I seriously doubt this is legal either in my country or wherever this is taking place if they used our accounts to promote this kind of stuff.  I have already changed my password for here, my bank, and google just in case.  I'm currently trying to see if there is a way to report this online and archive the numbers the message was sent to and possibly track the computer that sent the messages.

I think the hacking of iMessage started after hackers gained access to people's yahoo email. I think that was what happened with mine anyway especially due to the timing. I used the same password on my yahoo as well as on my apple ID. I didn't have the problem anymore after I changed my apple ID password.

Same thing happened to me last night at 5:55 PDT (Which is the middle of the night in the UK), running IOS 10.0.2.  Approx 70 imessages sent (imessage is still working).

I had 3 messages of the number 1 sent to some Philiipines numbers and then the same Chinese message that everyone else has had

I changed my password immediately but then got locked out of my account so had to do a recover, I've changed the security questions now aswell, theres no way whoever hacked this could have guessed my original security answers as I deliberately spelt them incorrectly.  All seems OK now on the phone.

I've never had a yahoo account so no chance its that....
