Sep 25, 2016 6:03 AM in response to Boy_Dobby LarryHN,1 - for the future is is recommended that you never select delete after import as if thing go bad it makes recovery difficult - the best practice is to keep teh photos and after the import is o=complete and at lease one successful backup cycle has occurred then use the Camera's format command to erase adn reformat the card - this eliminates many problems and keeps the card format freash
2 - what format are these photos - JPEG or RAW?
3 - software like media recover may be able to find and recover the photos on your memory card

Sep 25, 2016 6:16 AM in response to Boy_Dobby léonie,All the photos are more than 3/4 gray. Is there any way of saving these?
Are only the thumbnails partly gray, or also the original image files, when you export the originals to a folder on the Desktop or when you open the photos in Edit mode?
If the originals are damaged as well, you use data recovery on the card, as Larry recommended. It may be a JPEG corruption, but the tools to repair JPEG that I tried, could never fix the problems.
If the images are fine when viewed in Edit mode, try to rotate them back and forth, so Photos will recreate the thumbnails.

Sep 25, 2016 1:30 PM in response to léonieby Boy_Dob,The photos were fine on the camera. It is after the transfer and deletion of the photos on my camera that I saw the gray. The bottom 3/4 are completely gray. Tried editing them as well and they are still the same.

Sep 25, 2016 1:40 PM in response to Boy_Dobby léonie,Photos can be damaged during the transfer from the card, i.e. JPEGs. We still don't know, if your photos are JPEGs or RAW files.
There may be a problem with the card or the card reader or the cable, if you are reading directly from the camera. Bad block on your hard drive can also cause such a JPEG corruption.
