Q: Transfer Activity to New iPhone

I was having battery issues with my iPhone 6 and was told to do a clean install to eliminate anything that was broken in my backups.  I thought this was a good idea since I've been restoring from a backup since the first iPhone was released.  I got an iPhone 7 and did a clean install.  Most of my apps were updated from the cloud or Facebook or game center.I have an Apple Watch and would like to transfer all of my activity.  From what I've read, this seems nearly impossible.  Any tips?

    Hello, NetsiMagoo!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities, and congratulations on getting a new iPhone 7!  From what I'm understanding in your post, you're wanting to transfer your health data from the Activity app from one iPhone to another.  I use my Watch and iPhone to track my workouts, too, and I definitely would want to keep those as well, so I can look back on my progress!  I would be happy to help.

The only way to transfer that data (and other things like saved passwords, Wi-Fi settings, and website history) is by restoring from an Encrypted backup.  You can either manually choose to Encrypt a backup made with iTunes, or use an iCloud backup, which is encrypted every time.  The following documents have more information about encrypting and about backups in general:

    About encrypted backups in iTunes

    About backups for iOS devices

    Have a great week!

Yes, this is the way I've always done it.  Except when I was having battery issues with my iPhone 6, a Genius at an apple store told me that I needed to do a clean install (not from a backup) and that would resolve my battery issues.  So that's what I did with this phone.  I've unfortunately already kissed all that old data goodbye...it's too bad, really.
