Q: Ios10 to 3rd gen Apple TV

I just updated my iPad to ios10 and now I can't mirror to my 3rd gen Apple TV (7.2.1).

How do I fix this?

iPad Mini, iOS 10

Hi. First, is AirPlay enabled on your ATV? Second, the iOS 10 Control Center. Now has two panes. Mirroring is offered on the left pane, normal AirPlay on the right. Have you tried the mirroring button? What have you tried, and what happens?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

    1. Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2. Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    6. Restart your mobile device or computer.

If you are still having problems, try using 802.11n for wifi if you are currently using either 802.11b or 802.11g.

If your problem is AirPlaying from a computer, try disabling bluetooth

Thank you.  Somehow the Airplay on my TV was off.  It was on a few weeks ago so I didn't think to check that.  I do not recall turning it off.  AirPlay is working but mirroring is super slow.  I recall being able to mirror prior to ios10.

Maybe i turned airplay off because my old MacBook randomly picks songs to play from iTunes when my kids are using the AppleTV remote.

Thank you.  Restarting (step3) solved my mirroring (too slow) problem.  It also fixed the audio problem (no audio on Apple TV or iPad when mirroring.)

That is not caused by airplay but rather the MB picking up the signal from the remote. You would need to go into system preferences, security, advanced and disable remote control infrared receiver.
