Q: Is there any way to have a decent trackpad support on windows?

Can't you use Microsoft precision trackpad drivers?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9), Just updated

    I think it's quite obvious for someone using Windows on Boot Camp on a MacBook, with its trackpad.

    Here is something that it's unbelievable to happen with a 1k+ bucks device:

    > Gestures are not supported. None of them. (3 finger swipe to change desktop, 3 finger touch to open Cortana, pinch to zoom, rotate, and so on)

    > 2 fingers scroll is abominable (imprecise and with no acceleration)

    > Drag is the most uncomfortable thing I ever tried: double tap to drag is too sensible and it starts dragging always everything you have under your finger. With it disabled I have to push that horrible hard trackpad button that I never used in 4 years with OS X.

    Microsoft released its precision touchpad drivers that are awesome. Is it so hard for Apple to do something so that the mouse can be used with such drivers? If not, there is a tool outside, called Trackpad++ that solves a bit of the problems above but it's still to rough. But it means that in can be done. I simply don't use it for 2 reasons. You can obtain it for free but you have to update it weekly, rebooting twice after each update (since you have to update 2 programs, one is Trackpad++, the other one is PowerPlan 7, same author, that is needed to run Trackpad++), or you can donate to get those programs without the need of this update. But I'm not going to pay more since Apple devices already have incredible prices and so I expect to find things to be flawless.

    But the more I use my Mac and the more I discover this to be just a false hope (and not only with Boot Camp).

    Do the same functions work as designed when you switch to OS X? For example the ones in Use Multi-Touch gestures on your Mac - Apple Support . If yes, then the issue is the drivers.

    I personally dislike Trackpad++.

    You can provide Product Feedback or a bug report to Apple and see if you get any traction. If you do not like Windows on a Mac, and are within the return period, you can return your Mac to Apple.

    As I wrote, I've been using my MacBook for 4 years now, and so I think I'm not within the returning period.

    I don't like Trackpad++ too, but it's ways better than that improbable thing that Apple calls "driver". But if a person did, it means it can be done and maybe in a better way.

    P.s. Obviously multitouch gesture works perfectly on OS X.

    Quite true. Product Feedback should also help. I had much rather get an Apple-supported BC driver, than use Trackpad++. I would also suggest asking Microsoft to look at the feasibility of porting the precision drivers to support the Apple Trackpad PID/VID/SubSys.

    Only you can mark a topic you started as solved. No one else can. Apple can only recommend. Did you accidentally mark it solved from a mobile device?
