Q: Springboard crash?

iPhone 6s, running 10.0.1, 64 gb with ~15 gb free. Updated to ios10 last weekend (17th or 18th) via iTunes.

My phone will intermittently (~5x in the last week) go to a black screen with the spinning disc for a few seconds, as if it's shutting down. But instead of going all black and then restarting, the phone immediately goes to the lock screen. It has not restarted because I can just open it with TouchID. When I unlock, it goes to home--the frontmost app has quit.

If memory serves, it has mostly crashed while using internet-intensive apps: Mail, Facebook, Instagram. Usually it's over wifi because I don't use many data-heavy apps unless I'm on wifi. This correlation might not actually be perfectly true; I only started tracking details a few days ago.

Is this a springboard crash? Can you suggest details to watch for the next time this happens, or phrases to use in forum searches?
