Q: Manufacturing fault on Mac Air 2011?

Hi,

Have you ever come across an issue with a screen hinge problem probably causing a cable tension on Macbook Air Mid 2011, 13 inch? I had this issue for a while, but only now I have realised that this could be a manufacturer's fault and I shouldn't be really liable for i.e. having to pay for an outside warranty repair.

See pictures, if I hold the left part of the screen i.e. if I support the hinge with my own hand, the display comes fine, If I remove fingers, it appears like a graphic problem even though it's not a graphic problem, but more like a hinge issue on the left side of the screen.

I am thinking about talking to Apple about this, but since the nearest centre is 25 miles away, I welcome your thoughts first! Thanks

Take it to an Apple Store, they will decide what is needed and whether or not it is chargeable.

2011 is getting close to the age of being unsupported hardware.  I'm not sure they would do anything even if you were willing to pay since it is getting close to being obsolete.  Even if it was the subject of a recall notice (I have no idea but you can easily check with a web search) there's often a time limit.
