Q: New Tab shortcut same as Show Fonts

Trying to open new Tabs in Mail app.  The shortcut that is supposed to work everywhere - command T - is the same shortcut as Show Fonts so it always opens the Font window.  What shortcut should we be using in Mail if we want a new Tab?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Tabs is Mail is not quite like tabs in Safari. IMHO calling them tabs is a bit misleading.

Expand Mail to full screen (move the pointer to the top-left corner of the Message viewer and click the Full Screen button), then do any of the following:

    • Start a new message: In the viewer, click the New Message button; the message slides up from the bottom of the screen so you can address and write your message. To start and work on additional messages at the same time, choose File > New or press Command-N. Each new message is in its own tab; click a tab to work on the message. To close all tabs except the one you’re working in, Option-click the Close button of the tab you’re in.
    • Show the viewer: Click anywhere in the Message viewer, outside of your message; messages you’re working on slide to the bottom of the screen. Use the viewer to read messages you receive, search for messages, and more.To return to your messages, click the tab at the bottom of the screen.
    • Send a message: Click the Send button in the message toolbar; if you’re working on several messages, be sure to first click the tab of the one you want to send.
    • Save a draft message: Click the Close button in the message toolbar (or the Close button in the message tab if you have several drafts open), then click Save. If you’re working on several messages, you’re asked if you want to save each one.
    • Open a draft message: Select the draft message in the Message viewer, move the pointer to the top of the screen, then choose File > Open Message. If you’re working on several messages, a new tab is added for the draft you opened.

To stop working with Mail in full screen, move the pointer to the top-left corner of the screen, then click the Exit Full Screen button .
