Q: Purple squares on photos previews

Since upgrading to macOS Sierra, I get random purple squares on the small and medium previews i.e. when I'm in year mode or zoom in one level. The actual photos are fine. I have tried repairing the photos library (holding alt & cmd on start up) but the purple blobs are still there. How do I force photos to rebuild the previews. I know editing a photo does this, but with 80,000 photos in my library this would be impractical to do.

You can force a rebuild of the privies by rotating a group of photos and then o=rotating them back - you can do this for a large group - up to around 1000 - at a time - try on some and see if this resolved the issue - if it does it would still be 80 groups but that is manageable I think
