Sep 25, 2016 8:29 PM in response to coerby bobseufert,I can't find any setting you might have pressed by accident so we'll do some easy trouble shooting.
Try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Let your iPad start on it's own.
If the problem persist delete and re-install the YouTube app.
Contact YouTube, it might be the app, if you're having the problem then millions are having the problem.

Sep 26, 2016 5:28 AM in response to coerby bobseufert,Often times after an update the developer needs to update the app before it works properly.
Can you give me a YouTube link that isn't opening properly and I'll see if I have the same problem. Thank you.

Sep 26, 2016 5:55 AM in response to coerby Diana.McCall,Hi. When I use this link in Safari, I see a bar at rhe top of the page saying "YouTube installed open" that will throw the video to the app. I wonder if you tapped the "x" to the left of that prompt, which may have been permanent. Try Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.

Sep 26, 2016 6:30 AM in response to coerby Diana.McCall,Do you see the YouTube OPEN bar at the top of the page, as shown on Bob's screenshot? If so, you can use that to open the video in YouTube. They may have blocked the automatic popup option because hackers were using it to go direct to the app store. You could try force quitting Safari, to see if that has any effect.

Sep 26, 2016 2:14 PM in response to coerby bobseufert,Please send YouTube feedback. Tap the three dots in my screenshot above then tap feedback. If the problem is on Google's end they are very quick at making it right.
If you want to do more trouble shooting on your end go to settings> general> reset> reset all settings. Re-enter your wifi passcode and test.
