Q: Notes app crashing on iPhone 5S

Hello,

I am using an iPhone 5S with IOS 10.0.2 (14A456) and 16GB Capacity (almost 1GB free space available).

The Notes App crashes inadvertently and restarting the phone has not helped.

I am facing this issue post the upgrade to 10.0.2.

Looking for a resolution...

Thank you,

SK

    Hi SK-IN,

I understand that your Notes application is crashing after your update to iOS 10.0.2. Notes is definitely an essential app, and I'm happy to help get things back to normal again.

How long are you able to use the Notes app before it crashes? If you're not already syncing your notes with iCloud or another email account, I would recommend that you save your notes and create a backup of your device before you go further with troubleshooting this issue.

If you'd like to save each note individually, you can do so by tapping on the note, then tap the share button at the top right. From there, you can choose the Mail option if you'd like to email the note to yourself for safe keeping. You can also choose "Copy" from the share menu if you'd prefer to copy the note to another app. To create a backup of your iPhone, you can follow the instructions here:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

If you aren't already using iCloud for your notes, you can go to Settings > iCloud and turn on Notes. You can verify if your notes are saved with your iCloud account already by going to the iCloud website and signing in. You can then quickly move all of your notes from one account to another (i.e. your iPhone to your iCloud account) for safekeeping by following these steps:

Move notes from one folder or account to another. Swipe the note left in the notes list, tap Move, then choose the folder or account.

To move several notes from one folder or account to another, tap Edit in the upper-right corner of the notes list, tap the notes you want to move, then tap Move To.

    Organize your notes - iPhone

Once you're finished saving your notes and backing up your device, use these steps to delete and reinstall the Notes app:

    Delete and reinstall the app

    1. Tap and hold the app until it jiggles.
    2. Tap the   on the app.
    3. Press the Home button.
    4. Go to the App Store and download the app again.
    5. Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.

    Cheers!
