Q: IOS 10 on iPhone 6s - Battery drain issue

Hello Everyone!,

I have updated the Official IOS 10 OTA on my iPhone 6s, Here are the Initial impressions, I felt everything refreshing about IOS10, However one thing(The major) bit bothering me, Did anyone felt that Battery is draining Faster? In the morning Around 8:30 AM it was 89% after i did the update, Currently it's 56% (Straight 89% to 56%), I hardly used for mobile calls about 40mins, Whatsapp 20mins and other misc internet activites about 30mins or so, This was not the case with IOS9.3.5 and on screen time on an aggregate used to be 4hrs 30mins or slightly above, I seriously expected better battery life.

Thanks,

Sunil

    Even after the the iOS 10.0.2 I still have the same issue also, I need to charge twice instead of once.

    Yes I regret also upgrading to this version.

    The problem is not the version. Take your post. Substitute ANY version number over the past 9 years, from 2.0 on up, and there will be posts saying exactly the same thing that your post says. Every one of those posters regrets updating, whether it was from 9 to 10 or 2.0 to 2.1, or 3.1.2 to 3.1.3. So either we should all be running iOS 1.0 today, or there is some other explanation.

    That explanation is that sometimes the PROCESS of updating corrupts the data of some app, and the app starts misbehaving, usually trying to complete a data transfer that fails repeatedly. The condition is rare, and only happens to a few devices, but if yours is one of them the first reaction is that it must be a bug in the latest release. Logical, but wrong. It has actually been the specific version only twice; 2.1.1 and 3.1. And in each of those cases there were thousands of posts about it in days. I have an archive of one thread with 15,000 posts and 2.6 million views. At a time when there were only 1/10 as many iPhones in use as there are today. So unless you see something like that again it's best to assume that the problem is not the version that you updated to, but rather is some app that didn't "like" the update. Find that app and the problem will be fixed.

    @Lawrence

    I'm comparing the same Device, same daily usage, same Apps and the only difference is the update iOS.

    The rest of your message logic, and this is what we expect from the iOS to always make sure it's compliant with all Apps, specially that in iOS Apps merely work in the background.

    But the same apps are not doing exactly the same thing. There are over 1 million apps, and Apple does do basic testing, mostly to assure they are secure. They cannot possible test 1 million apps for every possible bug they might have.

    If you are waiting for Apple to do something you will be very disappointed. Your choices are to troubleshoot the problem, live with it, or buy some other product (which will have the same or similar issues at some point in time).

    Ways to troubleshoot this issue are represented by many thousands of posts and threads. You can either read them, or ask for help and someone will suggest some solutions. Or call Apple support or visit an Apple store. But if you are just here to complain the problem will never go away.

    @Lawerence,

    I agree with you, and I troubleshoot most of my apps and follow lots of other posts also. I'm not also posting to complain but still we raise the issue so the iOS engineers would pay attention.

    Thx.

    This forum is not how you get Apple's attention on an issue. Use the feedback link for that:

    Battery drains are really common with new iOS version. But I get 7 hours of battery life so I'm not completely sure.

    They are no more common then with any other iOS update.
