Sep 26, 2016 4:05 AM in response to embomerby Winston Churchill,You don't need to use the Apple ID that you use for iTunes with home sharing you can use any valid ID, but everyone else will also need to use the same ID.
However having said that, you should be able to log into home sharing using the ID you used for iTunes, it's just that if other devices are using a different ID you won't be able to share with them.
Where exactly are you trying to log into home sharing.

I haven't changed the password in Apple TV yet. Might that be the problem?

Sep 26, 2016 8:36 AM in response to embomerby Winston Churchill,It may or may not let your Apple TV see your library depending on which ID the Apple TV is using, but you haven't got to that stage yet, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to enable home sharing on your Mac if your details are correct. This could be an internet connection problem, are you having any other issues.
Are you able to enable home sharing as another user.

Sep 26, 2016 11:19 AM in response to embomerby Kolton Mayberry,Hi there.
Myself and another Apple goer are also discussing this issue in this same discussion area if you'd like to join in and perhaps try some of the options we've tried. The thread is called "Home Sharing - A Story of Struggle" and I've tried to be as forthcoming and detailed as I can with the heavy amount of investigation I've done on the topic.
I hope you'll join our discussion on it and perhaps let us know if you experience different results than what we've found. You can find this thread either by going through the 'Activity' tab on my profile, or by clicking 'Home Sharing' in the top-right in the navigation area.
Hope to see you there.
Kolton

Sep 27, 2016 4:37 AM in response to Winston Churchillby svanteh,I used another family members appleID on all my devices, 3 Macs with iTunes, AppleTv 4, 2 iPhones and an iPad. After switching Home Sharing id on all the devices I could turn home sharing on.
But surely there must be som unresolved issues regarding this in macOS Sierra.

Sep 28, 2016 2:16 AM in response to Winston Churchillby svanteh,In some way I think you're right. I use Two-factor authentication, but the family member's ID does not. Perhaps the problem is due to Two-factor authentication?
