Q: closing itunes message box

iTunes no longer closes when I hit the "X".

It now states "One or more applications are using iTunes scripting interface.

Are you sure you want to quit?

If you do nothing all applications using scripting bla bla bla will close in x seconds."

YES! I WANT TO CLOSE, I HIT THE CLOSE "X".

This closing message pops up even if nothing is running.

Open iTunes / close iTunes - get the message.

Older versions had no such message

You probably have some software, such as Last.FM or Plex, that wants to read the iTunes Library. If it cannot find the XML file then it connects directly to iTunes. Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced make sure that "Share iTunes Library XML with other applications" is enabled.
