Q: Moving iCloud content to another Apple ID
I'm really confused about Apple IDs.
I bought an iPod many years ago, and when I signed up to iTunes I was given an ID, which was my email address at the time. I have used that Apple ID to buy all my iTunes media ever since.
When I bought a MacBook Pro a few years later I also paid extra to get a Mobile Me account, which allowed me to sync my calendar and email and contacts across my MacBook Pro and iPhone. That was later changed over to an iCloud account as a free upgrade. My iCloud account has an Apple ID that ends in @me.com.
Having two IDs in this way (iTunes under one, and my "life" under another) has worked fine until today and I suspect it is the dual set-up causing a problem.
I just bought a movie on my MacBook Pro, within iTunes, under my iTunes ID, just as I always have done. However, it won't let me watch it - telling me that my computer is already associated to an Apple ID and if I want to associate it to another, then I have to wait 90 days.
I'm not even sure what will happen in 90 days - I assume a pop-up will appear when I attempt to watch the film but if I do associate my iTunes ID at that time, will I then lose access to my iCloud stuff for the subsequent 90 days?
I know I can't move my iTunes media to my iCloud account. However, can I move my iCloud data to my iTunes Apple ID? When I previously tried to link my @me.com email address to my iTunes Apple ID it would't let me because it was a me.com address. (I was trying to do that so I could continue to receive iTunes receipts when I left the ISP that supplied the email address that was also my iTunes Apple ID).
I don't know what to do for the best. I really don't. But I've got 90 days to figure out whether my choice is to lose all my iTunes media in order to preserve my iCloud life, or vice versa. I just can't get my head around it - please help!
I don't know what to do. I really don't.
