Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community! I understand your MacBook Pro is freezing after installing macOS Sierra. I use my MacBook Pro daily, so I can understand how this could be a concern for you. I'm happy to offer some suggestions.
The first step that I recommend is to try starting up in safe mode to see if your mac responds normally. This clears some cache and prevents some software from starting up, which could be incompatible and causing issues. You can find the steps for safe mode here:
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
If an issue doesn't happen in safe mode
If an issue doesn't happen when your Mac is started in safe mode, try restarting again without pressing any keys at startup. If the issue appears to be resolved when you start up normally, it was possibly caused by a cache or a directory issue with your startup disk that safe mode fixed.
If you restart your Mac normally and an issue comes back when you reach your desktop, try disabling any login items that automatically open when you log in.
You can also try creating a test user account to test this issue with. You may need to create the test user from safe mode if your Mac is not responding normally. There could be an issue with a user specific file and testing in a test user can help.
How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
Take care.
