Q: Storage

The Storage tab on my laptop says that I'm running out of memory. However, I cannot find the files it says I have stored (for example it says I have almost 25Gb of music; however, I cannot find them). Could someone help me?

If you have used iTunes for music, the music files should be located in your Home Folder:

Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Music

Note that if you delete something from iTunes, it will ask if you want to remove the item from iTunes or from your computer completely. Selecting to remove from iTunes still keeps a copy on your computer.

Similarly, you can use an app such as Daisy Disk to locate specific types of files and their locations on your computer.

Download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes. This should allow you to determine what files to delete or off load to an external HDD.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.
