    Hello Dulceallison,

Thanks for asking about iCloud and your pictures after the iOS 10 upgrade here in the Apple Support Communities. We never like to hear about issues after any update or upgrade. I am happy to offer some things to check to help you out with your photos being blurry, and the alert you received with iCloud.

The first thing we want to ensure is that all your data is safe. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes. Use this article for help with that: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Once your data is safe, we need to check out your setup, and ensure iCloud Photo Library is enabled, and check if you are using the Optimize Storage feature. Please open this help article: iCloud Photo Library. There is a section about halfway down titled "Save space on your device". It talks about the settings for Optimize Storage. When this is enabled, you will get lower resolution pictures, while iCloud Photo Library keeps all of your photos and videos in their original, high-resolution version. You can check and see what pictures are saved in iCloud by going to this link: icloud.com, sign in using the same Apple ID that is signed in on your iPhone. Click Photos. If you are using iCloud Photo Library, you will be able to see all your pictures. At the top center, it allows you to see Moments or Albums, and if you scroll all the way to the bottom it’ll tell you how many photos and videos you have. Also, scroll through some and try to check a few that show up blurry on your iPhone. Are the also blurry at icloud.com?

If you are using iCloud Photo Library, and even though you are seeing lower resolution versions of the pictures on your iPhone, they shouldn't be blurry. Make sure you have completed a backup, and then please go to Settings > iCloud on your iPhone. Turn the iCloud Photo Library off, wait a moment or two, and then turn it back on. This should get everything to re-sync with your iPhone and iCloud. Check if the pictures are still blurry. If they are, please sign fully out of iCloud on your iPhone. There are some options to save contacts to the iPhone, and other that documents and such will be removed form the device. Do not worry, this information is saved with iCloud, and also saved in the backup. Once all signed out, restart your iPhone. This article will help if you need the steps to restart the device: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Once the device powers back on, go ahead and go back to Settings > iCloud. Sign in with the same Apple ID that was signed in previously. It may take a few minutes to resent all your documents, data, pictures, contact and calendars, but once this is done, go ahead and check your pictures. Do they match the pictures at icloud.com? Are they still showing blurry on your iPhone only? See if you can isolate a specific set of pictures, or if all the pictures on the iPhone are blurry.

I hope the steps with disabling and enabling photos in iCloud, or signing out and back in to iCloud has sorted out the issue, but if not, please provide the information for the steps we have done together so far, and I will be more than happy to continue checking some other options to get this working as expected with you. Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

    Hello Dulceallison,

Thanks for continuing our conversation here in the Apple Support Communities. Do not worry, we will be able to figure out what is going. This alert is longer because it looks like it is specific to a picture file path, IMG_1984.medium.MP4 and it is showing us it is unavailable. Let's check your Apple ID.

In the previous reply, I asked if you could check your pictures using a web browser. Are you able to go to your
Mac or a PC, and go to icloud.com, and sign in with your Apple ID? Any alerts, errors or problems? Sometimes it asks for an updated password, or some sort of secondary verification. Once you clear that, your iPhone may be able to connect. If there was some alert or error that you cleared, or you changed your password, sign out of iCloud on the iPhone, and sign back in. See if it connects this time.

Also, is it unable to connect all day, on any wireless network you are connecting to, or is this only happening on one specific network, like a work network? Try disabling Wi-Fi by going to Settings > Wi-Fi, pushing the slider off, to the left, and try connecting over cellular data. Any change?

Do you have access to any other iOS devices that you can try signing in to iCloud on? This step will isolate the issue to either the iPhone 5 or iOS 10, or to your iCloud account if the same issue occurs on multiple devices.

Thanks again for continuing troubleshooting here in the Apple Support Communities!
