Q: Issue with iOS 10

I have updated my iPhone 6 to iOS10.  This phone is set to sync to my 2016 Ford Explorer.  This morning is the first time I have tried to sync my phone to the explorer.  Once sync found the phone, it immediately showed that I was in call with my cell phone number on the My Ford Touch screen.  I had not dialed anything.  Also, it would not allow me to "end call" either on the touch screen or with the steering wheel controls.

After a few minutes of trying different things (shutting car off, opening the door, restarting the car, etc...) nothing changed, each time the vehicle acquired the phone it stated that I was in a call.  I then deleted sync on the phone and deleted the phone from the car and re set up the Bluetooth connection.  Same condition.

At this point I have left the phone un-synced from the car.

Ideas?

    Hi Dhenryjr!

I see that your iPhone's connection to your Ford Explorer is not working as expected.  I can appreciate wanting to have that working correctly, and I'm happy to offer some help.  Excellent job troubleshooting so far, it seems that you've tried some of the steps we'd recommend.  Please review our support article, to see if there's anything you've not yet tried.  Take note that one suggestion is to contact the car's manufacturer to see if they have a firmware update available.  Firmware updates are often released in order to make your car compatible with Apple's latest software.

I have the same issue on my 2014 Ford Escape Titanium since I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS10. The first 1-3 connections always work properly. Then there is the same ongoing ghost phone call on my screen as on Dhenryjr's Explorer. Very inconvenient!

    I tried the following recommendations:

    • Delete pairing, restart, pair new
    • Restart phone without Bluetooth on
    • Reset network connections, restart, pair new
    • Disable iCloud on my phone, restart
    • Install iOS10 again, pair new
    • Reset of my sync system, delete pairing and restart

As a workaround I figured out how I can "END" the ghost call:

    1. On the touch screen I select the phone quarter
    2. Click then on the "PRIVACY" button. The button lights up shortly, Radio goes out of mute and the Bluetooth connection is working again.

Not perfect, but my skills as a singer are limited

    Update: SOLVED!

In my case Siri was the problem. As soon as I disabled Siri I had no Ghost calls any more.

    Background:

I wasn't able to unlock my phone proper with the touchID and iOS10. Only if enabled Siri I was able to unlock the phone in the way I was used to do with iOS9, but then I had ghost calls in my car. If you enable unlock with touchID you have to change the way how you click the home button. Click it once quick and then only hold your finger on the button and the phone gets unlocked. Then you don't need to enable Siri any more.

I am also having issues with Ford Sync and iOS 10.  It is very disappointing.  I only really have noticed it since I bought the new iPhone 7, but I think thats right around the time that iOS 10 was released.  No issues before the new phone.
