Q: quicken essentials not supported

I am in need of a new program to replace Quicken Essentials. I upgraded to Sierra and it is not supported. My needs are simple. I just need to track my checks, deposits, withdrawals, bills paid etc.. I would like to be able to import my Quicken Essentials backup. Can anyone suggest a program?

Thanks.

    Niel,

After reading the bad reviews of Quicken 2016 in the App Store, I would be hesitant to spend $74.99 for it.  It also looks like it has way more features than I would actually need or use.  It would be nice if they had a demo I  could try, but I don't see one. I really liked Quicken Essentials, sad I cant use it anymore.

    Thank you for your response

For what it's worth, I also used Quicken Essentials for Mac, but converted to Quicken for Mac 2015 when it was released, and then to Quicken for Mac 2016 when it was released last November.  I have had no problems with any of these products.  Quicken for Mac 2016 does work fine with MacOS Sierra.  And, as Niel says, the import from Quicken Essentials is quite seamless.

You can find a cheaper price for Quicken for Mac 2016 on Amazon.

(I have no financial interest in any of these companies or products.)

    Sberman,

Thank you for your reply. Still don't know if I want Quicken 2016 or not, but nice to know I can get it cheaper at Amazon.

I'm using Quicken 2007 for Mac V 16.2.4.  It works well with Sierra.  It can only be obtained from Intuit thru their chat service for about $15.  I have no idea if it can convert Quicken 2016 files for its use, however.

I was also a Quicken Essentials user. When Intuit announced that they were stopping development of Quicken Essentials, they offered a 10% discount to update to Quicken for the Mac, with a 30 day expiration for the offer. 25 days later I decided to take them up on the offer only to get an "offer expired" notification.

That ****** me off, so I started to investigate other softwares, i.e, iBank and Moneydance. During the process, I got popups offering 20% discounts for Quicken for the Mac. That was the last straw.

I tried out both iBank and Moneydance, and picked Moneydance in the end. It can also import Quicken Essential files.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful replies.

I tried a free demo of  a different app. Didn't like the interface at all. I am used to using Quicken. So after the helpful advise of all of you, I decided to purchase Quicken for Mac 2016. It effortlessly and accurately imported my Quicken Essentials backups.

    Thanks again
