The Bluetooth could be outdated in your car, which would explain why an iPhone 5 still works.

Can you test the Bluetooth on your iPhone 7 with something else, such as headphones or speakers?

The car is one year old a Peugeot 308 GT line, I have tested the Bluetooth by connecting to my iPads Bluetooth key board which it did OK.

Perhaps you can only have one iPhone paired at a time?

My wife has a 2014 Corolla, and I have a 2013 Civic and both only allow one device to be paired at a time. It saves the information for multiple iPhones, but can only connect to one at a time. Make sure your iPhone 5 isn't still connecting.

    Just throwing out ideas

    Hi Pmintz25

With your help we've cracked it, I took the car down the road well away from the mobile and told it to search for Bluetooth connections, none found, then went back home and changed the name of the iPhone 7 from Michael's iPhone to Mike's iPhone the car then recognised the Bluetooth and connected with each other ok.

THank you for your help in pointing me in the right direction, your a gentleman for taking the time and trouble to help.

Best wishes to you and your wife Mike xxxxx
