Q: Can't activate Sierra after having made space...

I downloaded Sierra but could not install it for insufficient memory.  I made space (after having reinstated El Capitan) but now can't reinstall Sierra!  It says I have already downloaded it!  Surely it is somewhere in my computer but I can't find it.  It doesn't result as a purchase or as a download.  What must I do?

iMac, iOS 7.1.2

    Hi gregoryfrombologna,

I understand that you've already downloaded macOS Sierra and you're looking to install it now that you've cleared up some space. I know it's important to have up to date software, so I'm happy to help.

After downloading macOS Sierra, you can find the installer in your Applications folder. This article has more information:

How to get macOS Sierra - Apple Support

If you quit the installer instead of clicking Continue, you can open it later from your Applications folder, Launchpad, or Spotlight. Look for a file named Install macOS Sierra. During installation, your Mac might restart several times. It then performs some initial setup tasks in the background. While those tasks are underway, activities such as using Spotlight or Mail might not seem as fast as they were before.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
