Q: ipad air 2 times out during sync

After install of 10.0.2 iOS update, connected my iPad Air 2 (cellular) to PC with Lightning cable and started a sync with iTunes. All steps proceeded normally until it came to copying photos from PC to iPad. After hours passed, an error message appeared reading that the iPad had "timed out" during the sync. iTunes was completely unresponsive and I had to use Windows Task Manager to force iTunes to end. From a check on the iPad, all data was updated except Photos, where about 350 were missing.

Before re-trying the sync, I deleted the iPod photo cache folder and its contents, to force a complete delete of all photos on the iPad and a full re-copy of everything. Again, the sync proceeded normally until it got to the last step, "Preparing to copy items", where it remained for hours and then produced the same error message as before. I had to repeat using Task Manager to end iTunes.

This is a major problem and I'm seriously considering downgrading back to iOS 10.0.1, when things still worked.

If anyone has the same problem and/or has found a solution (without downgrading) that works, I would be very grateful for any help/suggestions.
