Q: Security update 10.0.2 has bricked my iPhone6
I tried to install security update 10.0.2 on my iPhone6.
Instead of updating, the screen turned black and would not restart, even when I tried to force restart.
When I connected it to my iMac where my back-ups are stored, iTunes tells me the phone is in recovery mode and tries to restore software.
But it is unable to do so and I get error message 4005 - "iPhone could not be restored, an unknown error occurred 4005".
So from working perfectly, my iPhone has gone to not working at all.
Any idea how to proceed from here?
Given I can't even force restart it, it is hard to do anything. iTunes seems unable even to obtain the serial number of the phone when it is connected.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
Excellent news - I have managed to put my iPhone into DFU mode, reboot it from scratch and then restore all my material from my iTunes backup.
I had been trying without success to put my iPhone into DFU mode, but the instructions that actually worked were here:

Thank you, David Payette!
It's still a mystery why the iOS 10.0.2 update totally blocked my phone, however.
