Q: Relaunching a show after a 1 year absence

Hi.

I have a friend who had a podcast but it hasn't been on iTunes for a year or more. She'd like to resurrect and relaunch the show.

Would she be able to relaunch the show as if it's brand new on iTunes since it's been so long or should she rename the show and just act like she's starting all over? Does it depend on who her media host was? (it was some Brand X host, not Libsyn or Blubrry)

Thanks.

It all depends on why it was removed from the Store - for example if the feed went offline it would be removed; if the feed remained but was not updated it might have been removed (though mine hasn't been updated for several years and it's still there).

She should go to http://podcastsconnect.apple.com and sign in with the same Apple ID which was used to submit the podcast in the first place. If she sees her podcast listed there she may be able to re-submit it. If she doesn't, or if it's there but greyed out, she will need to change the feed URL and submit it from scratch as a new podcast. (It's immaterial who is hosting the feed or the episodes.) She should check everything is OK before doing this, by subscribing manually in iTunes (from the 'File' menu) and making sure that episodes downoad and play OK.
