I understand that after updating your iPhone, you are having some difficulties easily ending your phone calls. I know it's important to have control over your devices, so I'm happy to help.
In addition to using the on screen end call button, you can also end a call with the Sleep/Wake button. You can find out more about that here:
While on a call - iPhoneWhile on a call
When you’re on a call, the screen shows several call options.

End a call. Tap
or press the Sleep/Wake button. -

Sep 27, 2016 12:21 PM in response to Starr.Cby jdfromhuntsville,I'm going to take a guess here, but I bet the original poster is referring to hanging up a call when the phone is locked.
I, too, have that problem, and no, pressing the sleep/wake button OR the home button does NOT do anything but bring my lock screen up again (with no additional options.)
I currently only have two ways to end the call while the phone is locked -- either sign in, at which point I can click on the green bar at the top of the screen to get to the phone app, or THEY hang up and disconnect me.
I'm on an iPhone 5 running iOS 10.0.2.
