Q: Custom Netrestore Image?

Hello,

Is there a way to make a Netrestore image based on an existing installation?  I am looking to setup a thin image with an admin account and Munki already configured that I would push out via Netrestore when machines need to be clean installed.

Thanks in advance,

P-É

Simply select your installed volume as the Source in the first pane of System Image Utility. Note that you can't use the booted volume as a source so you either need 2 installed volumes, or mount the source using TDM.

    Fantastic, many thanks.

Follow up.  This creates an image equal to the size of the disk.  Is there a way to resize it so that it does not include the free space in the new image?

There is an option "Block copy the source volume" in System Image Utility -> Prefs -> Restore that you can turn off.

It will take longer to create the image, and it may not work in the new SIP enhanced world... that effectively disallows touching any files in /System.
