Q: turning time machine off? no swtich

Hi Team

Time Machine backs up your files every hour. To stop automatic backups, slide the switch to Off.

Thats what the little ? said when I pressed it, and I did have an OFF, but with my upgrade to  Sierra I have lost the SWITCH.

The SWITCH, as you call it has been replaced in macOS Sierra by a checkbox that says, “Back Up Automatically.” It is located in the same general area of the preference panel where the previous on/off switch was. The function is the same. Unchecking the “Back Up Automatically” box disables automatic backups. You can still manually start a backup just like you could after turning the previous switch to off. The new nomenclature makes it clearer as to what you are actually doing.
