Q: After iOS 10.0.1, macbook won't import photos from iPhone

Ever since I updated my iPhone 6S to iOS 10.0.1, it won't upload my photos to my macbook. I plug in my phone and press trust computer. My iPhoto doesn't automatically open. When I manually open it, it says it can not import photos because my iPhone device is locked. No matter how many times I unlock my phone, it still won't import the photos. Side note, I have turned my phone and computer on and off multiple times without it working.

Any suggestions would be great!

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), iOS 10.0.2

This error is generally seen when the computer does not have the correct version of iTunes to support the iPhone and iOS 10.0.1/2. The iPhone on iOS 10.0.1 requires the latest version of iTunes, 12.5.1, which on a Mac, requires OS X 10.9.5 or higher.

Thank you for explaining why the error happens Chris. I have an iPhone 6S running 10.0.2 and I am also having this problem. My MacBook Pro is still running 10.6.8 and I don't want to upgrade because I fear change. Does anyone know of a way to get my computer to recognize my phone without upgrading my computer to a newer OS?

No. You will need the current version of iTunes (12.5.something), which requires OS X 10.9.5 or higher.
