Thanks for posting on the Apple Support Communities. I see that you lost all your contacts on iCloud, but they still come up when you type the name of a deleted contact in iMessages. I know how important contacts are. I will be more than happy to help.
There is an easier way to restore contacts from iCloud. Take a look at this article:
If you accidentally deleted your calendars, reminders, or contacts from iCloud - Apple Support
In particular, check out this section:
Restore your contacts from an earlier version
- Sign in to iCloud.com.
- Click Settings.
- Scroll down and click Restore Contacts under Advanced.
- Click Restore next to the date before you deleted your contacts.
- Click Restore again to confirm. After the restore completes, you'll get a notification on iCloud.com and an email to the address on file with your Apple ID.
Take care!

Sep 27, 2016 1:38 PM in response to Starr.Cby alanfromstratford,I understand that...but that doesn't at all answer my question.
My iCloud contacts are gone...there is not retrieving them...i'm aware of that part.
I just wanted to access the iMessage autocomplete cache and copy that back to my iCoud contacts...that would be very helpful
