Q: Bad typing experience after Sierra update

After the Sierra update, the typing experience is sub par.  It lags on the screen and sometimes the autocorrect kicks in before I finish typing, "correcting" the word after I have typed it correctly.  It sorts of predicts what I want to type and corrects it before I finish typing in such a way that the final result is something like "unbelievablele" or "correcteded."

Anyone having the same issue?

MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12)

You can disable automatic spelling and grammar correction until you are done typing, and then allow it to do these things on your completed work. What you have described is Pages doing all of this while you type. From the Edit menu,

uncheck all of the features on the submenu as I have shown here:

When you are done typing, then Show Spelling and Grammar.

    Thank you, VikingOSX!

It is one way to do it, and I appreciate the help, but it is still a workaround – it doesn't really solve the problem which I can only assume is found at a level where we can't do much.  Hopefully, they will fix it in future updates.

When using El Capitán, it never happened and the whole experience felt a lot smoother (much better than with MS Office).  Now it's laggy – Pages on an iPad Air 2, however, is still pretty good.

In any case, thanks for the help.

Yes a lot of people are reporting the problem. Hopefully Apple will do something.
