Q: Can someone help me with an in app purchase that has gone wrong in my game?

I Purchased a game called Thrones: Game of War. Great stuff. However, last week something happened with an in app purchase I made on my iPad Air 2 that has caused me endless problems. In the middle of buying a package for the game, Apple sent me a notification that they had updated the terms and conditions. So, of course I click and agree, thinking my purchase will then go through. Not so much. Nothing was downloaded in my package. And every time I tried to repurchase it (thinking the sale did not go though), Apple sent me the "this item has been already purchased and will be restored for free" message. Then, my game would crash. I contacted Plarium and they restored the purchase (after a week). So, that's great EXCEPT now, no matter what kind of package I try to purchase in the game I get the good old "this item has already been purchased and will be restored for free" message. Plarium is working on it, Apple help has not even bothered to get back to me, and I am really frustrated with this! Is there anyone out there with advice.? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried the really basic stuff, like closing the game and the App Store completely and restarting or force restarting the iPad? Try that if you haven't already done so.

Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe left to find the game app. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it. Do the same thing to close the App Store app.

Try a simple restart of the iPad. Then see what happens.

Yes, I did all of those things. I do it every day, just to see if by some chance it will have unglitched! So far, no luck. I know if I delete the app and reinstall it, I will lose my saved game progress...unless there is a way around that.

Actually I was going to suggest deleting the game and reinstalling it. You could backup first, delete the game, reinstall it and then restore the backup, but I don't trust game data to be saved properly. I have seen a number of people say that their game data was backed up, but when they restore their backup, the data didn't come back. You might want to pose that question to the game developers.

You could try resetting all settings. No data is affected by this, but when you reset all settings, that means that all of the device settings are returned to the default, out of the box state. All WiFi passwords and all other settings would have to be re-entered. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings.

Well, I tried that, but no improvement. Plarium still has not helped me, so I am backing up and reinstalling! Here's hoping!
