Q: How to remove Gmail messages from iOS Mail App

I want to remove all of my Gmail messages from my iPhone.  I understand that deleting the entire Google account from my phone will acheive this, but I do not want to to that because I still want my Contacts and Calendar data to sync from Google.

I want to just delete the messages from Gmail that downloaded to the iPhone Mail app.  Sliding the toggle next to Gmail under > Mail, contacts, calendar does not seem to do the trick.  It is still showing data usage within the Mail app, when I look under storage usage.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.5

    Hi 01101010,

I understand that you've disabled your Google mail on your iPhone, but you're still seeing the messages in the mail app. I know it's important to take control over the space on your iPhone, so I'm happy to help.

It sounds like what would be easiest for you would be to delete multiple messages at once. This page has steps for doing that:

    Delete messages - iPhone
Delete multiple messages at once. While viewing a list of messages, tap Edit, select some messages, then tap Trash. If you change your mind, shake iPhone immediately to undo.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

Im sorry but wouldn't deleting them from the Mail app also delete them from the Google server?

I can only access the messages while the Gmail account is synced.  And if I delete while synced, I would be deleting them also from my Gmail account.

I just want to delete the messages from the internal storage of the phone.
